meet Your coach: Reeves Martin

Pitching Coach Sarasota

Hi, my name is Reeves Martin. I started Martin Pitching Performance with the goal of helping pitchers reach a level of success on the field many only dream of.

I grew up in Tampa, FL and attended Tampa Catholic High School (TC) where I graduated in 2015. During my sophomore year of high school, I began to implement a more "progressive" style of pitching training. This new style  of training methodology transformed my career and I saw all aspects of my on-field performance improve. Utilizing the latest in baseball player development instilled in me a curiosity to push the limits of the human body and a work ethic to hunt down my dreams no matter how insane they might have seemed.

After graduating from TC in 2015, I went on to play Division 1 college baseball at the University of New Orleans. As a Privateer, I earned the honors of First-Team All-American, Relief Pitcher of the Year (Southland Conference), set records for Most Saves in a Season, the Most Saves in a Career, and the Most Appearances in a Career; all of which I accomplished in 3 years.

In 2019 I was drafted by the Seattle Mariners and my childhood dream became a reality.

I played with the Mariners until early 2021, and while I was living out what I thought was my dream, I came to realize that my passion for coaching others had surpassed my love for being on the mound and I decided to retire from my professional playing career. My time spent in professional baseball came full circle however when the following year, in 2022, I was the Arizona League pitching coach for the Seattle Mariners.Currently, I am located in Sarasota, FL where you can find me on a field with a group of men chasing down their dreams, out on the golf course trying to save a par, or hanging with my puppy, Apollo, on the beach. Here’s to you fulfilling your potential with Martin Pitching Performance… kaizen.

Austin Bergner, Detroit tigers

Reeves is one of my favorite coaches to discuss pitching with. He is very intentional and adds value to both youth and elite Pitchers. It is crucial to surround your kid with coaches that have a growth mindset like Reeves. He is always looking to learn and searching for new answers! I am thankful to still have Reeves in my circle as I am on the cusp of becoming a Major League Pitcher.

6th round draft pick

As a professional pitcher Reeves has transformed my game both physical and mental. His ability to connect with players, understand issues and create solutions is an extremely valuable asset to have in a coach. He has improved my in game mental strength in ways I couldn't have imagined, by being easy to communicate with and setting goals to reach both in season and offseason. I highly recommend Martin Pitching Performance for athletes who are serious about taking their career to the next level and understanding the art of pitching

John creel, seattle mariners

This last year training with Reeves positively impacted my career forever. He taught me things from the mental game to pitch design and velocity training that I will take with me for the rest of my professional career.

"My experience with Reeves was amazing! I was on my second rehab from Tommy John and was out of options. Reeves helped me through every part of the rehab to get me back to 100%, when nothing else was working for me. He has a way of relating to you on a personal level while bringing to the table knowledge far beyond anyone I’ve ever met in the pitching world. I would recommend Reeves to anyone who takes their development seriously as a player and as a person!"
